Newcastle United utility man James Perch has insisted he is happy to wait for his chance at St James’ Park, but will not settle for just being a jack of all trades.
In an interview with the Journal, the 26 year old is quoted as saying:
“Being Mr Versatile does help in a way, it really does help sometimes. Sometimes it can’t help mind, because it can reflect badly if you don’t play well in central midfield having played well at right-back for a few games. You can be inconsistent”
“I wouldn’t be happy with that role (as a bit part player) for ten years. But I am happier than where I was.”
“To come in and play like that is a step forward, it’s progression. I am happy with that for now.”
Perch has made 5 starts this season, and is struggling to fashion himself a regular first team spot.
