Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy is on his way to Arsenal after the Magpies agreed a £12 million fee with Arsenal, reports the Daily Star.
The story of Arsene Wenger’s interest in Debuchy first broke in France a few days ago.
The Star claims that the North London club will confirm the transfer after the World Cup.
Debuchy arrived on Tyneside from Lille for a £5.5m fee in January last year. He had steadily imposed himself at right-back to become of the best full-backs in Europe.
Arsenal see the 28-year-old as a replacement for Bakary Sagna.
Local North East newspaper The Journal, meanwhile, reports that Marseille are the latest club to declare an interest in Debuchy’s services.
