Several Clubs Preparing To Battle It Out For Toon Defender

Three Italian sides have cast their sights on Newcastle defender Danny Simpson. Roma, Parma and Palermo are all said to be interested in signing the right-back.

Simpson is out of contract with Newcastle this summer. There has been a lot of talk surrounding whether Newcastle will offer him a new contract in January or not.

The club insist that the situation will not be discussed with the player until the New Year.

Nevertheless, if Simpson’s future is not secured soon then the three Serie A clubs will offer him an alternative as they prepare to battle it out for the 25-year-old’s signature.

It has been reported that Roma, Parma and Palermo are all going to offer Simpson a four-year deal worth £50,000 a week.

Do you think that Newcastle should offer Simpson a new contract sooner rather than later with this added attention? Or are you quite happy to let the defender leave?

Get him signed to a long contract now. He is one of our best defenders and gives 100% in every game. 8 goal line clearances last season speaks for itself. He's young and English, a player we should be keeping.

agree with gordon. It's gonna cost us who ever we get in. we need player in other departments, why make an added problem (we have enough of THEM at the minute). I don't know what the problem is. Simmo wants more money, he's getting next to nothing (although id be happy with it as an annual salary) in comparison and is one of the most consistent men. We maybe need cover for him and Santon at the minute but not replacements.

Get Rid thinks he can find a better club than Toon that will pay big bucks for mediocre player he is he's nothing special at all just Greedy!, the reason for his X8 goal line clearances is he's backed off the attacking player that much he finds himself on the goal line with no where to go!
