We’ve already discussed how reports of Newcastle’s interest in 28-year old Malaga midfielder Jérémy Toulalan are untrue. Now, there are reports in Spain that Toon have made a bid.

According to Barcelona-based newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle have made an offer for the Frenchman. The fee is not mentioned but according to tuttomercatoweb.com, the proposal is worth €8m (£6.2m).
The former Lyon star has already been linked with a return to Lyon and a transfer to Barcelona. However, both moves have been ruled out and this offer from the Toon is now being considered.
According to Marca, cash-strapped Malaga want to get rid of high-earner Toulalan after selling Venezuela striker Salomon Rondon to Rubin Kazan and Santi Cazorla to Arsenal. However, this is against the player’s wishes and he would rather take a wage cut to stay.
We’re not sure about this rumour. It’s a French player and we’ve been linked with pretty much every single one of them now. Secondly, signing a 28-year old supposedly goes against the club’s transfer policy.
Incidentally, the player Mundo Deportivo previously linked us with was 34-year old Ricardo Carvalho.
