It looks like Alan Pardew is always hunting for a bargain in his personal life, just like the shrewd signings he’s brought to Newcastle United.

Speaking in this month’s Virgin Money magazine, Pardew reflects on how he manages his personal finances. He also has some wise words on how to look after your money.
He says:
“I was brought up by my parents to appreciate the value of money, not to waste it and to be grateful for what you had. That upbringing has always stood me in good stead.
“However much you have – a few pence or a few pounds – treat it with respect.”
In a short interview, Pardew also stresses the importance of the season ahead. Asked if he’s an impulse buyer or plans his purchase, Pardew says:
“Well, if I see something nice I might buy it but only if it’s something I need, maybe a £25m centre forward…”
