We’ve got an update on Brazilian defender Douglas. FC Twente Chairman Joop Munsterman says both Newcastle United and Fulham “want to do business,” with the player keen to leave.

Munsterman has told Voetbal International that there has been no concrete offer from either club, but he will sell for the right offer because the player’s contract runs out next summer.
He said:
“The clubs [Newcastle and Fulham] have expressed an interest to want to do business.
“We have not heard anything concrete yet, but if a proper offer is made, we will sell him because he will leave next year on a free transfer.”
It is believed Twente’s game against NEC next week will be the player’s last game at the Arke Stadion. He will then be eligible for Dutch national team selection because he will have completed five years in the country.
Newcastle need a central defender and Douglas is believed to be a long-term transfer target.
I think we’ll sign him as the “on more player” AP wants in. Hopefully we can agree a fee and terms.
