Newcastle United will play Atromitos FC in their Europa League play-off qualifier.

As things stand, the first leg will be at away on Thursday 23rd August, with the return leg at St James’ Park on Thursday 30th August. However, if the Greek side agree, UEFA may change the dates to help Newcastle – seen as we face Chelsea two days after the first leg.
The draw was conducted by UEFA officials in Nyon this lunchtime. Newcastle were one of the seeded teams in group 1 and could have faced Romanian, Norwegian or Russian opposition.
As it turns out, it’s a trip to Greece for Alan Pardew’s men as they look to qualify for the group stages of the tournament.
