We signed him for £16 million – but former Newcastle striker Michael Owen is no longer a wanted man as he considers retirement.

This picture was sent to us on Twitter by @habibi5984 with the caption “About how much hes worth now?“

Owen is also preowned, and at 32 struggling to find a club after saying he’s too good for the Championship. At the time, being on the front cover of PES 2008 was a highlight. It was one of a few.

He scored 30 goals in 79 games, not a bad goalscoring record on Tyneside – but not good enough when you consider the transfer fee and astronomical wages we paid.
