News just in – Barcelona star Lionel Messi is playing at St James’ Park according to the new cover of FIFA 13.
The Argentine star features in the famous colours of Barcelona on the front – celebrating a goal at Newcastle’s stadium and Sports Direct advertising is nowhere to be seen.
It comes after Newcastle extended their partnership with EA Sports, creators of the FIFA games, for a further two years.
Dan Holman from EA Sports said:
“We’re delighted to be renewing our partnership with Newcastle United.
“We look forward to building on last year’s success by developing a wide range of initiatives that fully engage and excite the supporters throughout the 2012/13 season.”
Under the new deal, fans will be able to download a special NUFC version of the FIFA 13 cover, with Toon players – available from 28th September 2012.
EA Sports will introduce a number of fan involvement schemes by creating match simulation video content and asking fans to upload their best FIFA goals.
Toon players will take part in a Pro Player Tournament at the training ground and a similar tournament between fans will be held at Shearers Bar.
Exciting times if you are a Toon gamer. Let us know what you think.
