The transfer window is crazy. Just a day after reports that Newcastle have made a bid for FC Twente defender Douglas, the player hasn’t only come out and denied it, but says he wants to stay at the Dutch club.

The 24-year old, thought to be a long term NUFC target played in Twente’s Europa League qualifier against Inter Turku tonight and afterwards, told TC Tubantia:
“I know nothing of a bid [from Newcastle], neither does my agent.
“I’ve also haven’t heard anything about a bid from Twente. So I’m not sure.
“I just want to stay at Twente.”
In the past, Douglas has come out and said he wants to leave and is aware of our interest.
There were reports yesterday from Sky that Toon made a €4 million bid for the player and were hopeful of sealing the deal.
Earlier today, Sky said both West Ham and Fulham have also made bids for the Brazilian centre-back.
It’s all a bit of a mess and no one really knows what is happening. Furthermore, Douglas playing in the Europa League qualifier means he won’t be able to play for us in the Europa League if Twente make it through to the group stages with us.
Has he decided to stay at FC Twente for another year?
What do you think?
