Ajax midfielder Vurnon Anita has described Newcastle United as ‘a beautiful club’ – adding he’s been thinking about a potential move to Tyneside this summer.

The 23-year old has reportedly been identified as a target by Toon boss Alan Pardew, after a number of commanding performances for Ajax last season.
Anita’s agent Harry Lulofs told NUFCfans.co.uk about Newcastle’s bid for the player last month and Frank de Boer has said he wants to keep him at the Eredivisie club.
Now, after having returned from a break, Anita has told Ajax Life that he was flattered with interest from Newcastle – and would consider a move if Toon make another bid.
He said:
“Newcastle is a beautiful club. I’m open to anything. We’ll see what happens, but there’s nothing wrong with listening to Ajax and what interested clubs have to say.
“I am still here [at Ajax] and will do my best.
“I will consider all options. Does it matter to me that Newcastle are not in the Champions League? No.”

Anita was part of the provisional Netherlands squad for Euro 2012, but failed to make the final 23-man squad.
He continued:
“I haven’t spoken to Frank de Boer, but heard that he did not want me to leave. Maybe he will change his mind when Ajax hear what Newcastle has to offer.
“After I heard about the interest from Newcastle, I gave it some thought. It tells me that I am doing well. The choice is up to me.
“I will see how things go.”
The Antilles born versatile Dutchman began his career as a left-back, before establishing himself as a defensive midfielder. He signed a 2-year contract extension last summer to stay at the Amsterdam Arena until June 2014.
