Good news. Tim Krul is officially NUFC’s No.1, the keeper has told fans on Twitter.

Krul, who was no. 26 last season has slowly established himself as the best goalkeeper at the club, after a brilliant breakthrough 2011/12 season.
The Dutchman, who signed a 5-year contract at Newcastle in March will now don the No.1 jersey for the Toon, joining the likes of Pavel Srníček, Shay Given and Steve Harper on the list of recent No.1 goalkeepers.
Krul was on the bench for Netherlands’ disastrous Euro 2012 campaign and he is aiming to becoming Dutch No.1 in the future:
”I want to be the number one for my country and play in tournaments like [Euro 2012] that every two years.
“It was exciting to be there to see what it’s like, and it gave me a real taste for it.
“It’s given me a real push to perform well for Newcastle and make it where I want to be for the national team.”
Rob Elliot is squad number 21 and Steve Harper is now 37. One of those two are likely to move on for game time with the other being our second keeper.
Many congratulations to Timmy Krul on becoming NUFC’s No.1. He’s a top class goalkeeper who loves the Toon.
