Davide Santon is dreaming of Champions League once again and a return to Milan, this time with Newcastle United.
The former Inter man who has slowly settled into life in England was the first to admit that he’s never seen a mackem in Milan on his arrival.
He does, however, remember Newcastle’s trip to the San Siro back in 2003 and wants to see those days return.
Speaking ahead of the Tyne-wear derby, Santon told the Guardian:
“My dream now is to return to San Siro with Newcastle.”
“It will be very difficult to qualify this season but it’s possible. I think we can get into the Europa League this season. Then who knows?”
“I can’t wait to play for Newcastle at San Siro and win.”
The 21-year old has slowly seen Newcastle players gel and play some good football, something he’s crediting the manager for.
“When I first joined, no one thought we could be in such a high position but it did not take me long to realise there are many good players here and, like Mourinho, Alan Pardew is a very thorough manager who prepares you very well for games.”
Santon is excited about his first experience of the Tyne-wear derby, having played in a fair few Milan derbies during his time in Italy.
