Alan Pardew has provided a mixed forecast on Newcastle’s injury situation, after both Leon Best and Ryan Taylor had to go off in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa.

Best went down 13 minutes in, after his effort was blocked by Stephen Warnock. Taylor, on the other hand, was stretchered off after going down in the build-up to Newcastle’s first goal.
After the game, Pardew gave the following injury update.
He said:
“The good news for Ryan Taylor is that there is no break or fracture so we think he’s going to be OK and there’s big swelling on the leg. We’re very pleased because he’s been fantastic for us this year.”
“For Leon best he’s got a medial ligament problem which is usually a six-week injury.”
Newcastle beat Aston Villa 2-1 courtesy of goals from Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse.
